Baruch Lucero, manager of the Renaissance Beekeeping Association, said that with the affiliation of more members 789 join the organization from the the municipalities Tulum, Bacalar and Othon Blanco, the estimated production of 350 tons would be sent to a chain in the Midwest and some sold locally. He also commented that the production season officially began on Tuesday with an estimated completion in late May or early next July, also estimated that if weather conditions remain as recorded in the last days, will be favorable for flowering of the forests and thus production of quality honey.

Growing up in the number of beehives and producers are part of the strategies of the beekeepers in the municipality of Florida this year to increase supplies of honey, wax and propolis. By 2012, bee keepers in the town have set a plan up to 45 tons of honey and for that plan to incorporate some 350 hives and integrate additional two new members to the family of beekeeping in the municipality of Florida.

The honey harvest  begins it's  third month, but unlike in 2011 production levels will be lower in the sector,  a year will be difficult. The water shortage in some parts of the country since December drag is felt in the activity and the producers have been affected the performance of their hives. Double  the honey production in 2012. This is the expectation of the Januária Association of Rural and Beekeeping  (Arajan), in the North of Minas. This growth is expected due to the restructuring of agro-industry association of more interest and activity by the producers.
