Basque Country Bees , a region where so far most Asian hornet presence is still no defense against their attack, as it is a new species in the ecosystem and therefore bees have developed methods to combat them. However, this problem does not have Asian bees accustomed to attacks by wasps devised an ingenious system of defense. Bees invasive surrounding large groups into a ball and among all generate a temperature above 45 degrees Celsius. It so happens that bees can withstand higher temperatures than wasps and therefore are able to survive while the attacker is much more sensitive to heat ends up dying.

SCOTLAND- FIRST BEE HEALTH SURVEY

Ten per cent of Scottish beekeepers were invited to take part with inspections and testing taking place throughout Scotland. The results, to be published in 2013, will provide a snapshot of the nation’s bee health and will be used to inform future decisions relating to bee health and treatment of diseases, pests and emerging threats.

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture has asked the Environmental Protection Agency for an emergency exemption that would allow Idaho beekeepers to use the pesticide amitraz, which works as an insecticide. Amitraz has proven effective as an insect repellent in other uses, but has not been approved yet for use in honeybee colonies in the United States.
