BRAZIL- SUGAR EXPORTS IN AUGUST WERE RECORD

Sugar exports (crude and refined) totaled a record 3.2 million tonnes, wiping out the best historical mark registered in July this year (2.9 million tons), amid strong demand for Brazilian products has also congested ports of Santos and Paranagua. Sugar exports generated $ 1.36 billion in August, nearly double the same month last year, according to data from Secex. In August last year the shipments of sugar amounted to little more than 2 million tons.
