USA- IN NORTH CAROLINA ESTABLISHED NEW HONEY RULES

Monday, 18 June 2012 10:42 Written by Analia Manriquez

The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services implemented new rules starting June 1 aimed at preventing the sale of falsely labeled honey at its five farmers markets across the state, including the WNC Farmers Market in Asheville. Vendors at department-operated markets must apply for approval to sell honey labeled as “sourwood” or “North Carolina.” The guidelines apply to beekeepers selling their own honey as wells as vendors selling honey produced, packaged and distributed by others.
