This is an urban ecology project that develops a technology based company, Apoidea, SL, in collaboration with the Institute of Secondary Education Galileo Galilei.

The federal government Thursday projected the California almond crop at 2 billion pounds ( 907,194 tons), down slightly from last year's record harvest. The orchards are developing well thanks to favorable weather for the pollinating bees and other factors, the National Agricultural Statistics Service said. "We had a good pollination period," said agency statistician Doug Flohr, who made the announcement at the downtown Modesto headquarters of the Almond Board of California.

USA- PROTECTING POLLINATORS

This video is a little old, but very interesting,  provides information about the importance of bees and other pollinators to Montana agriculture and to our food supply. This video features NRCS conservation programs and conservation practices that promote pollinator-friendly activities. Montana beekeeper, Greg Lemmons, also discusses threats such as Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) faced by bees and beekeepers today.

The beekeeping industry in the province of Burgos, mainly the south, has seen reduced  their bees population  by 50% to 80 to 90 per hundred in some cases, due to weather conditions and the misuse of pesticides. The agricultural organization COAG-Burgos warns that this year will produce very little honey, and also may be affected crop of cherries and almonds,  due to the lack of pollination.

Yorkshire farming could be seriously at risk without urgent Government action to protect the bee population, according to research launched today by Friends of the Earth as it unveils a new campaign to save the bee. Bees pollinate around £31.8 million worth of total crop sales in the region of Yorkshire and the Humber, according to research conducted by leading bee experts at the University of Reading to mark the launch of The Bee Cause. The environment charity revealed the figure as it unveils new statistics showing that it would cost the UK £1.8 billion every year to hand-pollinate crops without bees – 20 per cent more than previously thought.
