GERMANY- MEETING ABOUT THE NATIVE POLLINATORS

Scientists involved in STEP, a large-scale project funded by the 7th Framework Program (FP7) of the European Union, have therefore taken an inclusive approach looking at the status and trends of all Europe's pollinators. New findings have been presented at a dedicated STEP symposium at the 5th EurBee meeting held in Halle, Germany on 3-6 September 2012.

USA- THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF THE HONEYBEES

Not everyone associates honeybees directly with the economy, but honeybee pollination is essential to crop agriculture and therefore plays a role in food costs. For the past two decades, pollination fees have steadily increased, found researchers at N.C. State University, who conducted the first comprehensive analysis of North American pollination markets, according to Walter Thurman, an agricultural and resource economist at N.C. State and co-author of a paper describing the study. Almond pollination fees were about $50 in 1993; they had risen to around $150 by 2009.

On August 25, 2012 at the headquarters of the Association of Seed Producers of San Juan was held a meeting of beekeepers, in order to unify criteria regarding service of pollination of onion seeds this season. It was coordinated by  Eng. Juan Manuel Raigon and had several beekeepers in the province, mostly belonging to the Association.
