The researcher Ricardo Camargo, Embrapa Environment (Jaguariúna, SP) is part of the technical staff of Embrapa that will format a proposal for technical cooperation between Brazil and the Common Market and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), comprising 14 countries of the Caribbean and Central America. Thus, the researcher conducted visit to Trinidad and Tobago, April 21-27 in order to get more information about the area in question and identify potential technological and non-technological bottlenecks that may be interfering with the development of beekeeping in these countries.

Two hundred beekeepers east of Guinea-Bissau are to benefit from a project supported mainly by the European Union and Portugal and that "produced" nearly three tons of honey in the first year of employment. Funded at 75% by the European Union and the rest by the Portuguese and cooperation by the Government of Guinea-Bissau (8%), for  a total of 620 000 euros

Attended by 80 people, leaders of leaders of beekeepers associations, municipal secretaries of agriculture, mayors, technicians from the Municipal Agriculture and Epagri, beekeepers, regional managers Epagri of Palmetto, Mircon Frühauf and São Miguel do Oeste, João Carlos Biasibetti , the chairman of Faasc, Nésio Fernandes de Medeiros.

Beekeepers are expecting warmer weather

The recent warm dry spell created ideal conditions for a bumper crop, but five to seven per cent of growers may suffer due to the lack of honey bees, said John Gibeau, owner of the Honey Bee Centre in Surrey.
