Summary
This study examines the bee keeping contributions to poverty alleviation in Cameroon. The global assumption stipulates that bee-keeping in a current state in Cameroon would contribute significantly to the improvement of the net incomes of the households. As regards the methodology used, a two stage stratified random sampling technique was used to select 100 bee farmer exploitations. Primary data was collected on elements of costs and revenue. Data were analysed using SPSS and Stata software.
In general, the average of total annual income of each farmer is 119 868, 5 FCFA; it is 394 872,738 FCFA for the specialized bee-keepers. Bee-farming in the North-West of Cameroon reflects the specialized exploitations.
Findings showed that a Cameroonian specialized bee farmer have an average annual net revenue of 299 774 FCFA and is able at the end of 4 years, to find its household out of poverty even if he loads two poor urban households. Cameroon can achieve the millennium goals on development if each year, 5% of the poor join to the specialized bee farmers.
