The province on Thursday pledged $450,000 over three years for the program, which will go to help beekeepers buy more bees and upgrade equipment to "accommodate and keep (the bees) healthy." The funding will also support inspection services and workshops for new beekeepers, the province said.

Local beekeepers in the Central Highlands and southwestern region have been ‘evacuating’ hundreds of thousands of swarms of bees to northern or western localities to ensure the quality of their honey under a new technical barrier set by the US -- their main exporting market. The US has recently applied a new limit on the carbenzamin content in honey products shipped to the country. Carbenzamin is a chemical contained in the pesticide used to protect rubber and cashew trees, which provide a large source of honey for the local bee-raising sector, from mold.

MEXICO- BEEKEEPING PROJECT IN MICHOACAN

Felipe Garcia Avalos, representing beekeepers in the Ciénaga region is seeking the formation of a grouping in which initially are actively participating honey producers about thirty different municipalities in the region, a project that has as its primary objective is to consolidate a unique brand for the product and standardize quality.

FIJI- NEW BEEKEEPING PROJECT IN NAVUA

Assistance  worth  $13,000 from the government of New Zealand to a youth group in Navua has helped them establish a thriving beehive operation. The Department of Agriculture's (DOA) national co-ordinator for Apiculture, Kamal Prasad, said the assistance included basic tools for bee farming such as honey extractors, bee suits and smokers would enable the group to develop five apiary sites with about 20 beehives.

ANGOLA- BEEKEEPING PROJECT IN MOXICO

A project called "Honey Program" which aims to implement actions honey production business in the cities with the greatest potential, will be released this Tuesday in Luena (Moxico), an initiative of the Development Bank of Angola (BDA) .
