AFSSA, FRENCH FOOD SAFETY AGENCY

Afssa is a public independent organism contributing through monitoring, alert, research and research instigation to the protection and improvement of public health, animal health and welfare, vegetal and environmental health. Afssa offers solutions to increase the effectiveness of State decisions and to ensure a satisfactory level of safety in its areas of expertise. Created in April 1999 in response to various health crises, Afssa is placed under the supervision of the French ministries for health, agriculture and consumer affairs.
