This session will provide a guide to who’s who and what’s what. The roles of the European Parliament, Commission and the Council will be examined together with other key bodies. The difference between Directives, Regulations and Decisions will be discussed, as well as the principles of mutual recognition.

An introduction to general food safety requirements will be followed by a review of the new food hygiene controls including Rapid Alert, Crisis Management and Traceability. This session will also cover the traceability requirements of article 18 of Regulation EC No 178/2002.

The current mandatory labelling requirements  concerning the product name and ingredient listing will be explained with practical examples, as well as how these may change according to the Food Information proposal.

Food Labelling Requirements – PART 2: Quantitative Ingredient Declaration (QUID) and Allergen Labelling

Illustrations of how QUID listing works in practice and a specific explanation of allergen labelling.

Mandatory Food Labelling Requirements – PART 3

This session will cover the remaining EU mandatory labelling information required on food products regarding net quantity, durability, storage conditions, name and address of manufacturer, origin, instructions of use and alcoholic strength. Any future legislative changes provided in the Food Information proposal will also be discussed.

This presentation will explain the requirements for nutrition labelling including content and format and changes laid down in the Food Information Regulation. The session will also cover the general provisions on fortification.

This presentation will explain the requirements for nutrition labelling including content and format and future changes laid down in the Food Information Regulation. This session will also cover the general provisions on fortification

Introduction to the EU Health Claims Regulation

This is currently a hot EU food law topic. What are the definitions for health claims? How do they get approved? Are there any EU positive lists? What are the legal status of the EFSA opinions on health claims? All these will be discussed in this session.
